Sandhya Tai

My name is Mrs. Sandhya Jitendra Bhobe, and I come from Mahim, Mumbai. Like many homemakers, I have long been immersed in the responsibilities of family life supporting my husband, raising our child, and nurturing our home. But amidst these duties, I carried within me a quiet longing a deep inner desire for solitude, a pull toward the Himalayas, and a search for something beyond the ordinary.
While such a retreat was not practically possible, destiny had its own plans. My spiritual journey truly began when Shri Balkrishna Maharaj unexpectedly entered my life. His presence brought a divine and transformative art, gently awakening something deep within me. Through his guidance, I slowly began to experience a shift a new direction toward spirituality and self-realization. Even before this turning point, I had a strong connection with Shri Sai Baba, who led me to complete the sacred reading of the Shri Sai Charitra. From this, I received several divine experiences—including what I believe was a true ‘darshan’ of Shri Sai himself. Yet, like many ordinary seekers, I often wondered: “Was this real? Could this truly happen?” These doubts reflected the softness of my spiritual foundation. But everything began to change with Shri Balkrishna Maharaj’s guidance. The questions stopped. My faith deepened. My journey became real. I realized that the true teacher, or ‘guide’, comes into one’s life at the perfect time—not necessarily someone world-famous or miraculous, but someone who speaks to your soul and inspires unwavering trust. What matters most is faith, not form.

Maharaj made me understand that God tests us and slowly prepares us to recognize and follow our true Guru. When our devotion becomes sincere, it is said that the Guru himself will come searching for the disciple. These truths aren’t learned through books, but through personal experience a gift that every true seeker is blessed to receive. With this realization, I began to find peace and joy in my spiritual practices. My path, which began with Shri Sai Baba, was now firmly guided by Shri Balkrishna Maharaj, and led me further into the light of Shri Shankar Maharaj. The connection between these divine beings became deeply personal to me—so much so that I began to feel that Shri Balkrishna Maharaj and Shri Shankar Maharaj were one and the same in essence and mission. In 2017, another divine presence graced my life—Shri Datt Maharaj. Along with my friend Hema Tai, I joined a spiritual yatra to Girnar Parikrama and Guru Shikhar, organized by Shri Naresh Dada’s Datta Dham. During that sacred journey, I had a profound spiritual experience and felt the divine presence of Shri Shankar Maharaj. Hema Tai witnessed this moment, recognizing it as a state of divine connection. Then, in 2020, during the pandemic lockdown, Naresh Dada began hosting the Online Purnima Girnar Yatra, in which many of us participated. By the grace of Shri Datt Maharaj, this initiative gave birth to the Shri Satya Datt Gurukul Group—a spiritual family that continues to flourish under the blessings of Shri Balkrishna Maharaj.

Temple on mountain

Each month, Maharaj gives us a sacred mantra to chant during the online yatra. Together, we symbolically climb the 10,000 steps of Girnar, stopping at each temple, chanting, meditating, and sharing in the joy of this spiritual ascent. Through Zoom gatherings, we listen to Maharaj’s words, and many seekers share their divine experiences. Our Gurukul family continues to grow, welcoming new seekers and visiting sacred places associated with Shri Datt Maharaj. The practices and disciplines shared by Maharaj are now bearing fruit, enriching our lives and strengthening our bond as a community. One special memory I hold dear is of Riya Phadnis, the youngest seeker in our Gurukul when we began—just a 9th-grade student at the time. Riya would lovingly create videos of our group’s events, assisted by her sister Vallari Phadnis, who helped with social media updates. Their service is a shining example of seva with devotion. I would also like to extend heartfelt[1]  gratitude to all those who have contributed selflessly to the growth of our Ashram and Gurukul. Special thanks to Pratibha Tai, Usha Tai, Hema Tai, Vishakha Tai, Sanjay Dada, and Bravish, as well as all our Gurukul seekers who continue to offer their unwavering support and love. This is just the beginning. With faith in Shri Balkrishna Maharaj, love for Shri Datt Maharaj, and the blessings of Shri Shankar Maharaj, our journey continues—stronger, deeper, and ever more joyful.
